MEET GENESIS

After learning she has seen new hair growth from our products, we had to chat with her about her hair journey! Genesis describes her hair as fine, wavy and part of the 2b hair category. Her blonde highlights can tend to be on the dry and brittle side if they aren't nourished thoroughly. In terms of her scalp health, she was struggling quite a bit with psoriasis which was affecting her overall hair health. HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE TEXTURE OF YOUR HAIR?

I have fine, wavy, 2b hair. I do have highlights and I get them retouched about every 3 months, so my hair can get dry and brittle if I don’t take care of it like I should.

HOW DID YOU TAKE CARE OF YOUR HAIR BEFORE THE INTRODUCTION OF THE INNATE LIFE PRODUCTS?

 Honestly, nothing special. Shampoo, conditioner, sometimes a deep mask, a bit of oil and heat protectant spray because I would curl my hair constantly adding more to the dryness.

WHAT MADE YOU SEEK OUT THE INNATE LIFE PRODUCTS? HOW DID YOU HEAR ABOUT THE COMPANY?

I unfortunately got diagnosed with scalp psoriasis in 2018, and because I didn’t know how to properly take care of it, I lost a lot of hair. My hair was already dry because I was bleaching it and curling it all the time and the scalp psoriasis just made everything so much drier. I was hopeless, I researched online for anything that could possibly make my scalp 'normal' again and make my hair feel soft again while making it grow. I tried everything from coconut oil to hemp seed oil, but they only temporarily worked and never got rid of the problem. One day, I came across a YouTube video on a girl discussing a natural hair mask that she used for her itchy scalp. Though her issues were nowhere near as severe as mine, I decided to give Innate a try and honestly it was the best decision of my life!
I bought the Problematic Scalp Treatment first and I promise you it got rid of EVERYTHING!!! I’ve been psoriasis free for over 2 years now! It doesn’t drip all over your face and doesn’t have a weird smell! It’s refreshing and has a nice scent to it and isn’t near as hard to take off. Most importantly it got rid of all my issues. My hair was growing back, my waves were returning; I didn’t feel ashamed anymore. I had to explore the rest of the line when I saw such great results. WHAT SETS THE INNATE LIFE APART FROM OTHER COMPANIES IN THE BEAUTY INDUSTRY?

Good, natural, cruelty-free, everything free, products! You don’t have to sit and wonder what the heck you’re putting in your hair. No weird chemicals you can’t pronounce, just good quality ingredients!

WHAT IS YOUR HAIRCARE ROUTINE NOW?

 I wash my hair 2x a week. I start off by using a few pumps of the Herbal Shampoo on just my scalp and after, the Herbal Conditioner (discontinued) on just my ends and let that sit for a few minutes. Afterwards, I use the Neroli Hair Primer on my scalp because the apple cider vinegar really helps get rid of buildup! Then, I use the Leave-in Conditioner for extra moisture and brush that in with a wide-tooth comb. Once that’s been evenly distributed, I start to scrunch my hair lightly and listen in for the 'squish' sound – that’s how you know you have enough product in. When I like how my waves are looking and make sure there’s no damp 'frizz', I’ll then finish off with one pump of the Rose Hair Elixir. I’ll part my hair in half and, focusing on mid-shaft to ends, I’ll put my hair between both my hands and 'pat' down. Whatever is left on my hands I’ll lightly rake on top.
When my psoriasis was pretty bad, I’d use the Problematic Scalp Treatment once a week. Now, I only use it once a month just to keep up with maintenance and because my hair honestly feels amazing afterwards. I like to sleep in it to get as many hours in but if I’m in a hurry, I’ll leave it in for at least 4 hours.

HOW DID YOU SEE YOUR HAIR CHANGE AFTER USING THE INNATE LIFE PRODUCTS?

My hair was alive again! It wasn’t dry or brittle, it was soft and even had bounce again. Goodbye was the frizz and the itchy, dry scalp! Most importantly, it started to grow again!!!

WHICH IS YOUR FAVOURITE PRODUCT AND WHY?

I have 2! The first has to be the Problematic Scalp Treatment because it honestly saved my hair! I can’t thank its existence enough! And secondly, the Rose Hair Elixir because oh my goodness it’s just the perfect oil. It’s not super thick and sticky, and have I mentioned the amazing smell?
